Ms Ghosh will first visit the Greenfinch anaerobic digester, grant funded by DEFRA as a pilot renewable energy plant.

She will meet Greenfinch MD Michael Chesshire and South Shropshire District Council leader Cllr Celia Motley, Cllr Nick Barclay and Cllr Rosanna Taylor-Smith, lead members for Environment, as well as Graham Biggs, Chief Executive and Bill Jones, Director. John Hurst-Knight Shropshire County Council's lead member for Environment and Waste will also be present.

Mr Dunne will then take Ms Ghosh to view flood damage in Ludlow, particularly progress in repairing the bridge washed away at Coronation Avenue.

Liaising with farmers' leaders, Mr Dunne has invited local farmers to meet Ms Ghosh at the Ludlow Football Club at 11am to raise issues of concern. The Rural Payment Agency's handling of the Single Farm Payment and Environmental Scheme is expected to feature prominently as well as bio-security measures and flood defences.

Mr Dunne said:

"I am pleased that such a senior civil servant has accepted my invitation to see for herself the impact of her department's policies on rural areas. It is timely in view of last month's floods that she can see the consequences of floods at first hand."
