Stephen Fry, who played Jeeves in BBC's Jeeves & Wooster series in the1990's, was guest of honour at the P.G. Wodehouse Society bi-annual dinner in London last night. The evening was sponsored by Ottakar's, the fast growing bookshop chain, chaired by Ludlow parliamentary candidate Philip Dunne.

Philip Dunne said today: "After dinner there was a This is your Life review, compered by Stephen Fry in the Eamonn Andrews/Michael Aspel role, with Anton Rogers as Wodehouse. I found myself reciting an extract from Joy in the Morning, where Bertie Wooster tries in vain to find a book for Jeeves in a bookshop. Being on stage with Stephen Fry in a room full of Jeeves and Wooster fans is a hard act to follow. Luckily it was a funny piece and raised a good laugh."
