Two scouts represented Shropshire at a recent reception given by the Speaker of the House of Commons in his state reception rooms.

Simon Ingram from Ludlow and Leonora Harbord from Bridgnorth were chosen by their troop leaders to represent their scouting association at local MP Philip Dunne's invitation.

Mr Dunne gave them lunch and a tour of the House of Commons before the Speaker's reception. He said today: "I was impressed by the enthusiasm of Simon and Leonora who both provide great role models for the scout movement in Shropshire. I believe they enjoyed their day in Parliament and were impressed by the Speaker's quarters. They also met Peter Duncan, Chief Scout for the whole of the UK, who used to be a Blue Peter presenter."

The Scouts provide young people with a wide range of opportunities to develop skills and experience of life beyond home and school. There is always room for more members, anyone interested in learning more should contact Jane Harbord in Bridgnorth on 01746 762072 or Jonathan Booker in Ludlow on 01584 876117."
