£300 Winter Fuel Payment Boost

From today, millions of pensioners will begin to receive Winter Fuel Payments boosted by £300 to support them during the winter months.

The Government has also confirmed that one million people in receipt of tax credits will receive their second Cost of Living Payment from today.

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne has welcomed the payments saying,

“Pensioners are some of our most vulnerable residents in South Shropshire so it is welcome news that 24,495 pensioners in the Ludlow Constituency will receive an additional £300 from today. Cost of Living Payments have also been a vital lifeline for many as we face inflationary pressures caused by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and the energy shock that followed. Every household will be better able to face higher costs thanks to the Government’s £49billion support package, including targeted support and energy bill support for all.

“These are challenging times for us all, but the new Chancellor and Prime Minister are committed to supporting the most vulnerable through the difficulties ahead”.

Winter Fuel and Cost of Living Payments will be paid to those who are eligible automatically.
