Mr Dunne said: "I set out to use my Christmas card this year to try to raise some money for charity. I am very pleased with the response and am most grateful to all who sponsored the card. I organised a competition in local primary schools to come up with the design, so it seemed quite right that the children's hospice Hope House should benefit from the sponsorship we raised. I have visited Hope House and seen for myself the marvellous work it does, relying for most of its funding on voluntary contributions."

Nuala O'Kane, Appeals Director of Hope House in accepting Mr Dunne's contribution said: "All donations are essential to ensure continued provision of the vital work of Hope House in providing palliative and respite care to children. We are extremely grateful to Philip Dunne for choosing Hope House to benefit from his Christmas card this year and to all those who contributed sponsorship."
