Dunne Welcomes Funding for Local Tree Planting

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne has welcomed the announcement of funding for local councils to support tree planting initiatives.

The government has allocated a total of £320,921 to Shropshire Council as part of a £14 million allocation to the Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) programme, aimed at restoring and enhancing nature across England.

The LNRS program recognises the need to address the historic and ongoing decline of nature in the country. The funding is designed to bring together local authorities, landowners, farmers, and land managers to develop targeted strategies for nature recovery collaboratively.

The funding allocated to Shropshire Council will support tree planting, a vital component of the local nature recovery strategy

Philip Dunne MP stated,

“I'm pleased Shropshire Council has received funds to support tree planting in the county. The Local Nature Recovery Strategy programme encourages collaboration and community involvement. Shropshire Council will work with local landowners, farmers, and managers to identify suitable tree planting locations.”
