Dunne welcomes efforts to tackle Rural Crime

South Shropshire MP Philip Dunne welcomes recent efforts by West Mercia Police leading to substantial arrests disrupting criminal networks. During the County Lines Intensification Week in March, 60 arrests were made, accompanied by multiple warrants executed at residential properties.

This operation led to seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of close to £300,000. Additionally, Joint Operation Radar in January witnessed 10 arrests and dismantled two county lines in Kidderminster and Redditch, seizing thousands of pounds worth of trafficked drugs believed to be heroin and crack cocaine.

Under the Government's Police Uplift Programme, West Mercia Police recruited 330 additional police officers, surpassing the combined three-year programme target of 311 officers. This is increasing police presence on the ground, ensuring a proactive approach to community policing.

Philip Dunne said:

“I am pleased to support efforts of our police force in ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities.

“I continue to press upon West Mercia Police leaders the need to deploy increased police resources policing in rural areas”.
