Philip Dunne is backing calls by parents to bring safer routes to school and a pedestrian crossing at Weeping Cross Lane in Ludlow.Philip Dunne, MP for Ludlow, is backing calls by parents to bring safer routes to school and a pedestrian crossing at Weeping Cross Lane in Ludlow.

Shropshire County Council had recognised there were concerns over the safety of pedestrians crossing Weeping Cross Lane at the junction with Lower Galdeford but unfortunately they fell outside the remit of the Safer Routes to School programme.

However, after Mr Dunne pressed the Council, they decided to investigate looking at the potential for a joint traffic management and Safer Routes to School scheme in the location.

Mr Dunne said:

"I am delighted that the Council has decided to look into new ways to find a solution to traffic problems at Weeping Cross Lane in Ludlow.

With increasing traffic approaching this junction from Sheet Road with the new Park and Ride, Ecopark and petrol station all open, the argument for a safe pedestrian crossing, particularly on the children's route to school is even stronger."
