Ludlow College has renovated its former redundant squash courts to provide training facilities equipped to CoVE standards to offer practical training for health and care professionals working in South Shropshire.

Mr Dunne said "I was delighted to present the CoVE kitemark to recognise the quality of training available at Ludlow College's latest facility for young people and adults working in the care sector.

We were given a demonstration of the latest learning and assessment techniques available. It is very good news for Ludlow to have secured this very modern training facility. It is serving a growth sector in the area as the proportion of elderly people continues to rise, especially here in South Shropshire."

Mrs Ann Brown, Principal of Ludlow College said "We have been awarded the status of a Centre of Vocational Excellence for our training of care workers. This building, a conversion of the squash courts, has been funded by the Learning and Skills Council. We are the main provider of training for care workers in Shropshire and some of the surrounding areas. In our first year we are well on course to train about 800 people in NVQs."
