Dunne encourages local groups to apply to the Big Lottery Fund.Ludlow constituency MP Philip Dunne is delighted that the regional Big Lottery Fund, based in Birmingham, has agreed to visit Ludlow to explain to local groups the current status on how to apply for a Big Lottery Fund grant.

Philip explained, "I am often approached as the local MP by constituents seeking support when applying for a grant. People are naturally concerned that Lottery funding of the London 2012 Olympics will divert money from other good causes for the next five years. This is a good opportunity to learn exactly what impact it may have and the current criteria and process for lottery applications for local projects."

John Taylor, Head of Region for the Big Lottery said: "Big Lottery Fund is committed to ensuring all parts of Shropshire benefit from Lottery funding and that this improves the lives of local people in and around Ludlow. By working together with Philip Dunne MP, we are able to maximise our impact and ensure we make a real difference by investing Lottery money where it is most needed."

The meeting will take place on 6th September, at The Bishop Mascall Centre in Ludlow, between 2:00pm and 4:30pm. A presentation will last 45 minutes, followed by a short question and answer session. Literature will also be available on the day to help potential applicants.

The Big Lottery Fund distributes half of the funding the National Lottery raises for good causes. It gives grants to projects that improve health, education and the environment, as well as supporting voluntary groups to help those most in need. The Big Lottery Fund has awarded £23 million to over 600 projects in the Ludlow Constituency since 1995 when the lottery began.

The event is free of charge, but numbers are restricted to the size of the venue. If you would like to attend, please contact Philip's office by emailing GIBSONJA@parliament.uk or telephoning (01584) 872187.

Philip added "I am most grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for agreeing to visit Ludlow to advise volunteers from all over the constituency and local groups on available funding programmes. I am sure that many local groups will benefit from the up-to-date information available at this meeting"
