Philip Dunne encourages use of JustTextGiving

Philip Dunne today encouraged charities across the Ludlow constituency and those raising money for them to take advantage of the JustTextGiving service.

The service is free to set up and allows individuals to make donations by text message. Donations can be made by customers of any mobile telephone network provider without network charges. The service has been developed by Vodafone on a not-for profit basis, and Gift Aid can be claimed on each donation. It is estimated that text donations could be worth £96 million annually by 2014.

Philip Dunne said: “The service provides a free, swift and convenient means of fundraising for charities and individuals, and I believe it will encourage charitable donations from people comfortable using mobile technology.”
