MP congratulates Hendra House on award success
Hendra House the award winning residential home in Ludlow is celebrating its latest success after two of its employees have won through regional heats in order to compete in the World Skills Olympics in Care.
Three heats were held across the country and organised by the National Skills Academy for Social Care, with the ten competitors with the highest scores being selected to compete in the finals.
Team Leader Lindsay Giess and Care Assistant Gemma Ingram beat competitors from all over the country to become 2 of the ten finalists at the prestigious competition to be held in London this month.
Vince Burmingham owner of Hendra House Residential Home said “We would have been delighted if one of the girls had made the final, but for both of them to have reached the final is a fantastic achievement, and recognises the exceptional levels of skill and professionalism of Lindsay and Gemma, and all of the team at Hendra House”.
Gemma and Lindsay who are currently completing their Adult Apprenticeships are proud of their achievements to date and delighted to be representing the home and the county at the national finals.
Resident Doreen Shaw said “ The home is second to none and the staff provide us with the best possible care imaginable, making Hendra such a wonderful place to live, all of the staff deserve recognition for all that they do for us”.
Local MP Philip Dunne has invited Gemma, Lindsay and Vince Burmingham to meet him at the House of Commons during their visit to London.
Mr Dunne said:
“Getting to the finals is a remarkable achievement and I wanted to make the day even more memorable for Gemma and Lindsay so I am delighted they are able to visit me at the House of Commons. They are shining examples of the high quality of care and care training available in South Shropshire.”
