MP Comments on termination of Bishop’s Castle Biomass Plant
Philip Dunne MP said: “I had raised with Shropshire Council the need for local residents to have the uncertainty over controversial use of this site brought to a head. So I am very pleased that the Council has responded positively and will now be discussing future potential uses for the site with Bishop’s Castle Town Council.”
Local campaigner and former councillor Georgie Ellis said: “This was the main issue that worried so many in Bishop’s Castle and the surrounding area since the idea was first raised. 90% of the people I spoke to in the last few months still did not want the biomass, even with all the proposed safeguards, so I do hope that Shropshire Council works closely with the Town Council to ensure the site is developed in a way that brings in the maximum number of jobs for the town.”
