Mr Dunne inspected the new drainage arrangements which the Highways Department of Shropshire Council have installed to carry water from the B4365, which goes past Culmington, into the Seifton Brook downstream from village houses.

Mr Dunne said: "I was pleased to see the tidy job which Shropshire Council's Highways Department have done to install a new large diameter pipe to carry surface water away from the main road. Images of the floods in 2007 had been collected by Mr Page and other residents to show how serious a problem this had been.

Roy Page said: "This has been a 7 year campaign to fix the surface water problem from the road junction which first flooded in 2002. I drew this to the Council's attention in 2007 but it was only when Philip Dunne got involved that they seemed to appreciate the seriousness of the problem. I am delighted that the Council have now done such a good job in replacing the drain. Only the Environment Agency now need to do their bit."
