Dunne urges support for Dragonfly Project

Local MP Philip Dunne today backed Worthen girl Bev Chittem whose Dragonfly project is one of three business ideas in the Wales and West regional to reach the finals of the national “Take One Small Step” competition. Only one business per region can go on to win a £50,000* for their business from Barclays Bank.

Mr Dunne said:
“Bev is an enthusiastic volunteer who is setting up Hampton Hayes, a care farm project to provide therapeutic workshops and respite care for some of the most vulnerable within our community. It would give the project a huge boost to win the competition and I urge local people to get behind her and to vote online.”

Barclays Bank are giving this boost to ten businesses who can demonstrate their ambition, passion and, most importantly, great business idea in these challenging times.

Hampton Hayes is a working farm where special needs people can visit for regular respite breaks. The aim is to improve lives through companionship and healthy outdoor activities, with positive knock on effects for the main carers at home. Now investment is needed to extend this not for profit service. Bev Chittem said: “I always say we are one small stitch in a large tapestry so I was really inspired by the competition. It would be an enormous help if we were to win this fantastic prize. So please would anyone who wants to help Shropshire families with someone who has special needs please help by voting online.”

To vote for this local Shropshire project, visit www.takeonesmallstep.co.uk, click on Wales & West and vote for Hampton Hayes. Voting closes on 4th July.
