Bitterley School wins national award
Ludlow MP Philip Dunne warmly congratulated Bitterley CE Primary School in winning a national award in London last week.
Bitterley’s Primary School Parent Teacher Association won the National Confederation of Parent Teachers Association’s Gold Star Reward in the “Changing the life of the School” category at a National Awards Ceremony held in the Cabinet War Room in London’s Whitehall last week. The award was presented by new school’s minister Nick Gibb MP.
Bitterley’s entry was an imaginative secret garden built by parents with help from children which included a clay pizza oven.
Mr Dunne said: “It was a great pleasure to show School Council members James Kinder and Hannah Parry with head teacher Jane Bishop and parent Matthew Lloyd around Parliament to make their award winning day even more special.
Shropshire schools are once again leading the way in the quality of the school environment and it is encouraging for all concerned for this to be recognised at a national level.
Jane Bishop, headteacher said: “I am absolutely delighted that the PTA have won this national award. It is a privilege to work with such a supportive and committed group of people. The project has enhanced the school grounds and led to extra excitement in the delivery of the curriculum”.
